NO! We encourage any and all students to come try the sport of rowing! We have seasoned coaches that will teach technique and provide the training to get you safely on the water.
EXPECTATIONS

Be supportive!
Consistent practice attendance & proper communication to coaches for excused absences. Regattas especially!!!!
Full engagement in practices and completion of workouts.
Punctuality and arriving on time! 2hr 15 mins is a short practice window, we need every minute.
Being accountable to yourselves and others; communication and meeting expectations.

Signup Genius links will be sent out leading up to each competition, and we need support from the family of each athlete!
Expectation is to volunteer for at least one regatta, but we value your help as much as possible; setup and breakdown are critical needs for the team.
How are boat lineups selected?
In this sport, we fill “Top-Down” when making boat lineups. Those with the best erg scores, general fitness, attendance and attitude are most likely to be considered for lineups first.
What uniforms and/or equipment do I need?
Athletic closed toed shoes, a water bottle, athletic clothes, and spandex/ rowing trou!
What are the Facilities & Equipment?
We launch boats from Tampa River Center at Julian B Lane Park
We use ergometers (rowing machines) and land/resistance training at Tampa Prep
Vespoli boat program, oars, updated fleet
When is Fall Season?
August 25 - December 20
What is included with Fall Season Dues?

Regatta Entry Fees
Some transportation to venues (out of town/state)
Hotel stays for some regattas
Food at regattas (breakfast, lunch and snacks throughout the day including families in attendance). Dinners for overnight stays.
Team T Shirt for athletes/Captains merch
Towing expenses (including gas)
Club Dues: $1,700 - submit checks to Parent Board member payable to “Tampa Preparatory School” with “Fall Rowing & Child’s Name” in the memo line
Tampa Prep Finance only accepts checks, no credit cards
Due Date: Returning Athletes Monday August 4th / New Athletes Friday, September 5th
What are the expenses for Spring Season?
FOOD
Lodging for State Championships (Sculling for selected athletes & Sweep for all)
Tent Rental Fees at some regattas
End of Year Banquet: Food/refreshments and decorations
Gifts for Seniors and Seniors’ Moms
Chuck Wagon Restocking
~$600/athlete OR ~$900/athlete depending upon attending 1 or 2 of the Championship regattas. All athletes on the team are expected to attend at least one Championship regatta next April.
